Baseball is back, y’all! I would normally be at all of the spring training games enjoying an ice cold beer or marg but Tatum NEEDS his nap which means we stay home. I’m currently in velvet pajamas and listening to the game as I type. Takes me back to the days when Tucker was in Bakersfield, California and there was no such thing as watching a game so I would listen on my app while googling the difference between a pop out and line out. I wasn’t a baseball fan…SEC football was where it was at in the south. Anyway, so happy we are still a part of the Reds and that we have the chance to make SO many memories this season in Cincinnati!!!!! That was a weird time. Trade talk + someone who is an organized OCD planner (me) = wtf type stress over living arrangements and possibly uprooting our lives. I’m sure that day will come someday but I love Cincinnati. I love being close to home. I love the friends that I’ve made on the team. I love that family is close enough to come and see Tucker kick ass in person and that they are able to love on Tatum for the weekend. I love the Reds staff from ballpark security to Tucker’s teammates to announcers; they are all so wonderful. I love Graeter’s ice cream. So yeah, being very honest…it would’ve sucked to leave for those selfish reasons but I’m only human. AND I am so damn excited to watch this team kill it this season. I have a feeling I shouldn’t plan any vacations for early October.
Arizona has been more of an adjustment this year than any other year. It’s weird sitting at home while Tatum naps and Tucker is playing. I had serious FOMO for the first week but I reminded myself that this is my 8-8 and quite frankly, Tatum is the CEO. His busy schedule of playing trucks, puzzles and baseball means he needs a nap and mama needs a break. I’m glad that we’ll be able to make it to some night games and that this is a short phase of the season but I still miss cheering my guy on in the sunshine and shouting fine ass when he is up to bat. Our days are so structured out here. I love it. I wake up before Tatum, make coffee, get in a 30 minute workout in the living room, and then Tatum is awake by 8. We eat breakfast and then two days a week we join other moms for a stroller workout. We play trucks, basketball, baseball, practice colors and numbers, we take long walks, go to the park, hit up HomeGoods at least 3x a week and we make some time for snuggling while watching Bubble Guppies. Tucker gets home and we go eat or the chef himself makes us dinner. Bath time for the baby, more puzzles and cars followed by watching a few minutes of Elmo before Tatum goes to bed. Our date nights have become a glass of wine or two while watching Vanderpump Rules, Housewives of Beverly Hills, Pacers games and Gotham. I love the simplicity of just sitting back and relaxing just the two of us and that I’ve suckered Tucker into loving Bravo. So different when the season starts and the mornings become our favorite part of the day. So while I feel like I am most definitely missing out right now, I know it’s such a small part of what’s to come and I will get my fair share of seeing #16’s ass behind the plate in person 😉
While I’m in the mood to talk baseball…let’s talk manners. It is SO easy to scroll past something that you don’t like on Twitter. You know what’s harder? @ my husband and being a dick. There is really no need for it. One, it’s embarrassing because half the time the spelling is wrong and statement is grammatically incorrect. Two, we are laughing and showing each other gifs that aren’t appropriate to post but would be a really good one to post if we could. Three, it’s so much easier to be nice. Like so much easier. You think your tweet doesn’t matter and it really doesn’t but then your friend joins in and they start @ whoever and then the phone is blowing up with bashing and it’s ridiculous. Talk shit if you want but you really don’t have to @ him. Or me. I have to catch myself because I love to get even but I’m a lady so I’m working on not getting even. #whatwouldchrissyteigendo?! But really, just be decent. Y’all, I can’t imagine going on someone’s social media and blasting them or saying they aren’t good enough or to put more work in or you make enough money so you can’t complain, etc. I really can’t imagine just bashing someone for no reason. We will raise Tatum to know it is unacceptable. Some people are fragile and those words hurt!!! Imagine someone speaking that way to your child, wife, husband or friend. It’s not cool and it’s really not setting a good example for anyone.
Quick note to the Reds fans who were so kind to us during trade talk…thank you!! Your words were so appreciated and we felt the love. Also, thank you for all of the well wishes when I had a kidney stone on Monday. I would not wish that pain or fear on anyone! Well, maybe Twitter trolls. kidding but kinda not Thank you, thank you, thank you all!
Tucker, I am so ready to watch you kick ass this season! We will be there cheering you on along the way. I will shout “fine ass” without hesitation again this year when you do all the good things on the field. I can’t wait to see Tatum’s face when he realizes that’s his dada up to bat and hear him say that sweet “heyyyy batta battta”. I can’t wait to see that face where you kind of look like a lion when you scream “f yeah” after a win or throwing someone out. I love that you play with all that you have. You are our superstar. We love you, honey!!!!!!! GO BABY GOOOOO!!!!!!
CHEERS TO BASEBALL SEASON!
MRS. B
I cannot fathom having to endure the life of a professional baseball player or spouse. I can see why many are not on social at all to be honest and glad you and Tucker share the experience, good and bad, with your friends and fans. No matter the digits on your paycheck it does not give freedom for endless “critiques” while hiding behind a username.
Much love to you both!!
Love this so much! Happy you’re still here! F*** the Haters-there are tons of fans who love tucker and think he’s a beast(me included of course, lol)
Enjoy your wine, your baby, your time with your husband, and cheering on our guys. And you’re right, Sierra, don’t plan any vacations for October 😉
We’re transplants here too (Arkansas-going on 8 years) and Cincinnati has been better than I could’ve imagined possible. It’s been a great place to raise our kids (16 & 19 now), the Reds are absolutely our team, and we love having good folks like the Barnharts in the family.
As parents as of a HS pitcher, we love a solid catcher like our own child, and Tucker shot to the top of my wife’s list when she heard he’s into cooking, as she’s a food network junkie and a darn good hand in the kitchen herself.
Never forget that the haters aren’t anywhere close to as numerous as the folks that love having y’all here, they just have poorer manners. shake em off and keep the updates coming. we look forward to keeping up with you for a long time.
go Reds! Go Turpin! Wooo Pig Sooie!
