I cannot believe Tatum is almost a year old!! When I found out I was pregnant in 2016 I googled all of the “must haves for baby” and as time passed I found myself looking at the “best sellers” section on BuyBuy Baby and hoping the items were a success in our household. This blog post is dedicated to our first year favorites. Disclaimer: I don’t get paid to post. If I ever got paid to post something it would 100 percent be for wine.
First Year Favorites for baby:
- Aquaphor I use it for Tatum’s diaper rash, baby moisturizer, perfect for cracked skin in the winter and pretty much everything in between.
- Halo SleepSack swaddle I loved these for naps but in the middle of the night the velcro is pretty loud for a diaper change. We used them anyway because what’s a little velcro noise when your baby doesn’t sleep. Seriously, I amazon primed every swaddle, sleep contraption, magic suit and blanket offered in hopes one would be the miracle worker for sleep. I have to say Halo SleepSack swaddles were easiest. Zip and velcro. Done. Until the next feed or diaper change!
- Love to Dream Swaddle UP This was our favorite zip swaddle from about 3-5 months. So dang easy. Next time around I will probably switch to this sooner. Tatum loved being cozy and having his arms confined so we didn’t transition out of a swaddle until around 5 months. Love this brand because you can transfer from both arms in to one arm out to both out with the next step up called Love to Dream Swaddle UP 50/50. This brand is so soft.
- Aden + Anais muslin sleeping bag current favorite. Lightweight. Soft.
- Dreft laundry detergent. I want to bathe in this stuff. I wash our sheets in it because it is so dang sweet.
- Mam pacifiers are what worked best for Tatum. I took a pacifier until I was 5. I could do a back handspring yet relied on a pacifier. Tucker took a pacifier until he was 4 or 5. Tatum takes his for nap and bed only. If he drops it by middle school then we’re good.
- Alimentum formula has been great considering Tatum had a sensitivity to the milk protein. We tried Nutramigen and since you CANNOT heat it, he hated it.
- Pampers diapers
- Pampers Sensitive wipes. I recently started using their Aqua wipes and I would say the sensitive are a bit better for Tatum.
- HoMedics Sound Spa because white noise is the shit. $19. Battery or plug in. Timer or leave it on all night.
- Project Nursery baby monitor. Good range. Reconnects quickly if it loses signal. Loud AF if the battery is low. Connect up to 4 cameras. Pan + tilt. Pricy but we’ve really loved it. Didn’t hold up too well when I threw it across the bathroom during a sleep deprived night. BuyBuy Baby exchanged for a new one.
- Nookums Paci-Plushies love this for Tatum’s pacifier at night. Fits perfect with the Mam pacifier. We didn’t introduce a “lovey” until 5-6 months. Your call. Don’t mom shame me for something being in the crib plz.
- Cetaphil Baby Wash + Shampoo I have super sensitive skin and Tatum is the same way and we’ve loved this from day one.
- NoseFrieda I said I wouldn’t suck up my baby’s snot but here I am including a snot sucker as a first year favorite.
- Nuk Simply Natural Bottles I tried 7 different brands of bottles when I was trying to give my boobs a break. I threw 7 different brands across the kitchen out of frustration. Nuk to the rescue. Nice and fat like a milk filled boob. No crazy valves or muti piece system. Anti Colic Air system.
- Baby Brezza One Step Bottle Sterilizer and Dryer Sterilizing bottles, pacifiers and teethers after traveling is therapeutic for me. Easy to use.
- Baby Brezza Safe + Smart Bottle Warmer Safely heats breast milk and formula. Easy to use.
- Baby Banana Teething Toothbrush for Infants teether. Bonus: baby looks like a cute little monkey.
- Zoli Chubby Gummy Teether set of 2 Easy for baby to hold and if Tatum could talk in sentences he would say “amazon these”.
- Cloud Island Sleep ‘N Play onesies. Comes in a 3 pack for $12.99. Throw every print they make in your Target shopping cart. Repeat until they don’t make them in their size. Seriously, my favorite sleepers for Tatum.
- Zoli Buzz B Electric Nail Trimmer because I was scared to death to clip Tatum’s nails. This thing is a lifesaver. Definition of extra.
I think this list pretty much sums up our favorite items from the first year! How will our baby be one in less than two weeks?! Perfect time to gift him his remaining Christmas presents from last year. These are the days. Sweet, sweet days.
Hope y’all found this post helpful! It’s amazing how my brain works properly now that I get my 8 hours a night.
