It’s been a while since my last blog. Offseason is here!!! throwing back celebratory wine at that statement. I wanted to reflect on all the things that I am thankful for this year. Sit back, sip some Chardonnay (I’m drinking Hess Chardonnay) and don’t mind my no filter lol at some things post.
SO much has happened since last Thanksgiving. Including: a honeymoon that I swore I had malaria during..turns out it was excessive Pepto Bismol consumption, traveling to Arizona for Spring Training (shoutout to our 3 roomies who sucked down margs & played endless amounts of video games), a full baseball season, new friendships, a new house, losing my mind over the new house, celebrating the new house, 3 weddings all in different states #LitTour, celebrating the offseason, figuring out what to do with the offseason since I am not technically working, thanking myself for occasionally subbing so I feel like I am working, cursing myself for subbing because #kidsthesedamndays, wondering how many hours a day a typical married couple spends together, contemplating going on laundry strike how many shorts can Tucker wear in 1 week?! don’t ask, having our very first Trick or Treaters some even dressed up as Tucker LOLOLOL nobody ever dresses up as me?!?!,celebrating our 1 year anniversary (#whushupboo), preparing for HOSTING Thanksgiving tomorrow and last but not least getting ready for our anniversary trip to NAPA (GIMME ALL DA WINE). Y’all can attend Thanksgiving if you bring a bottle of wine, I won’t turn you away. SO many happy things have happened since last year. SO many things have made me question if I am losing my mind. It’s a win win, right?
Hosting our first Thanksgiving has included me throwing a temper tantrum at least 3 times this week. I said “we can just order pizza for all I care” at one point. I googled “can champagne give you deathly heartburn”. I googled “how to clean wood stairs so you don’t slip while wearing socks”. I dropped the F bomb at my clumpy pumpkin pie trial numerous times. I tracked our rugs approximately 321 times vs UPS so the house would look a little prettier. I rolled my eyes so many times I am actually surprised I don’t have a headache. I have pushed my cart in front of many cars in the grocery store parking lot shouting “hello, I am the DAMN pedestrian, y’all need to yield TO ME” while smiling and hoping they weren’t as insane/Thanksgiving detail oriented as me to run me over. So, yeah. You can find me tomorrow sipping Cranberry Moscow Mules or Chardonnay by the Solo cup full. Don’t worry though… the pies are made, the cranberry salad is chilling in the refrigerator, the table is set, the turkey & ham are ready for T to put his #Chopped skills to use and most importantly both of our families are coming together for the first time for a holiday! #BarnhartBashThanksgiving
What are y’all thankful for this Thanksgiving?? Here’s a few lot of mine.
- Tucker (My best friend, my back tickler when I can’t fall asleep, my chef, my biggest supporter, my encourager, my tear wiper, my call me on my bad attitude, my let me be me, my shoe hoarder, my sports loving, sweet, booty smacking, handsome AF and life of the party husband. I love you even though our first interaction included you saying #swag. I love you so much it hurts.)
- Family (Any disagreement will be forgiven & the funny times that make you pee your pants a little will be fixed by Tide detergent.)
- Friends (Our friends are the reason #LitTour was created. Our friends are also the reason we have been able to celebrate SO much this past year. New friends were made this year & let’s be honest…new friends are the best.)
- Princeton (Really no explanation needed since he is our life but SO thankful for his health being great after he was diagnosed with IVDD in January.)
- Health (Tucker made it through an entire baseball season with great health. I am thankful for my health. Really we are so blessed and we don’t ever take that for granted. If you’re reading this…please send a prayer up for my friend Mary Helen and her husband, Joel. They were recently given life changing news. You can read about it/donate here https://www.gofundme.com/joelmedicalfund).
- Love
- A home (Even though I questioned my sanity so many times in July.)
- Wine (No explanation needed.)
- Laughter (I had so many times this year where I laughed so hard I justified it being an ab workout.)
- #Realshit (Inside hashtag with T. #Realshit happened this year and I am so lucky that we have each other.)
- Probably so much more to list but these are what come to mind. Also, Mariah Carey Holiday is on Pandora and I really need to get up and do the Mean Girls dance.
